Day 5:
Day 5:
Thunderhill - Day 2
Day two at Thunderhill, Day 5 of OTC began lazily. After actually not having to drive anywhere, 6 hours of sleep and not having to unload in the morning were a god send. After only a few minutes of prep work and some awesome breakfast burritos (cooked by Christine) we were ready to go. Session one we tried the same tactic as yesterday with Joel driving and me sitting shot gun. This time Thunderhill was like a whole new track with even more blind corners and less run off room in the reverse direction. To Joel's credit he managed to keep the car on track and we made it though the session with no drama, with the exception of scaring Roger Foo in his attempt to make a pass. Sorry Roger. :-)
Session 2 was equally uneventful with me going out to attempt to better Foo's times in the 330i. First few laps were in the 2:25's and then I started taking time off. Dropping one to two seconds a lap I brought the times down to the 2:18's. Better than the beginning of the session but not nearly fast enough. Foo pulled the 330i down to an amazing 2:13. Ouch.
Session 3 was our last chance and I was determined to cut more time off the course. However , although we stayed on track and didnt brake anything, I was only able to get down in the 2:16's. Good news in that we were ahead of the miata but still just under 3 seconds short of the BMW. Oh well, on to Willow Springs. Need I mention, Thunderhill CW, records our first day without something breaking!!
