Day 3: ![]() ![]() It didn't work, Foo and his stripped 330i managed to take me by a second or two. However, the session was uneventful mechanically; it looks as though the RX-7 is finally sorted. With any luck no more problems would arise. For session 2, Joel went out to play on the track. He slowly brought the car up to speed, but after a couple laps he stopped coming around, uh oh. From the tower we headed down to the track to see if we could locate him. Finally Darren informed us that the car was sitting off of Magic Mountain. With the end of the session, the car was towed back in. Joel had successfully buried the car in a bog at a high rate of speed. So now the car has had its air duct pretty severly damaged, both brake ducts mud packed, and about 10 pounds in Buttonwillow mud added to the suspension. I located a hose for him and let him set about cleaning the car. Session 3 would be skipped. Session 4 was a short one, I headed out and after shaking off another 20 lbs of mud brought the car up to speed. With each lap I sped up until I was ready for a flyer, a flyer that resulted in my spinning off of the track at 90+ mph coming off of the exit of the bus stop segment. Day 3 was over and we had lost our second track to Young's team. |
